Travel Pendleton is a resource for tourism in the city of Pendleton in Eastern Oregon. I met the fine folks at Travel Pendleton while pursuing a documentary about the world-famous rodeo, the Pendleton Roundup. They reached out with a broad request that went something like this: “We want to make a video that will get you folks from Portland to visit and stay longer.” One thing I’ve always found unique about Pendleton is that so many of the shops in its adorable downtown offer locally handmade goods. These aren’t just locally sourced and crafted in the general area – these are made in the store, right in front of you. You can get custom cowboy boots, a hat shaped to your head, a custom leather belt, and so much more. After you’re done with a day of shopping and exploring the rich history, there are so many great food options. I think these films showcase Pendleton and are a direct result of my documentary filmmaking background.
